Web archive

Give every broadcast a public web page, with an archive, RSS feed and sitemap.

Publish a broadcast to the web and it gets its own public page that search engines can find, listed in your team's archive. Readers who find it can subscribe from the archive or from under each issue.

Turn on the archive

In Settings → Web archive, turn on Host the archive on SendLit and save. SendLit picks a handle from your workspace name (you can change it) and creates a "Web archive" signup form unless you pick one. The archive lives at:

PageURL
Archive, newest firsthttps://<your SendLit API>/w/<handle>
One issuehttps://<your SendLit API>/w/<handle>/p/<slug>
RSS feedhttps://<your SendLit API>/w/<handle>/feed.xml
Sitemaphttps://<your SendLit API>/w/<handle>/sitemap.xml

Add the sitemap in Google Search Console to get new issues indexed quickly.

Publish a broadcast

On the broadcast, choose Web page and turn on Publish to the web. You can do this before or after sending; the page goes live once the broadcast is sent. You can also set:

  • URL slug: made from the title when you leave it empty. It stays the same afterwards, so links keep working.
  • SEO title and description: used for the page title, search results and link previews. The description defaults to the start of the email.
  • Social image: shown when the link is shared.
  • Canonical URL: set it when the issue also lives on your own site, so search engines credit that page.
  • Hide from search engines: adds noindex and leaves the issue out of the sitemap.

Turn Publish to the web off to take the page down; it then returns 404 and leaves the archive, the RSS feed and the sitemap. Deleting the broadcast does the same.

What the public page shows

The page is the email as sent, without anything personal:

  • subscriber merge tags such as {{ subscriber.name }} render empty; wrap personal lines in {% if subscriber.name %}...{% endif %} to leave them out of the public page;
  • no open or click tracking, and no unsubscribe link;
  • no scripts.

Each page has a title, description, canonical URL, Open Graph and Twitter tags and Article structured data.

The managed footer's View in browser link goes to the public page once the broadcast is published. To link it yourself, use {{ web_version_url }}. For a broadcast that isn't published, both go to the recipient's own web version.

Show issues on your own site

Platforms such as CourseLit can render the archive inside their own site instead. Turn Host the archive on SendLit off and use the API with a team API key:

  • GET /web/issues: published, sent issues, newest first, with slug, title, date, excerpt and SEO fields;
  • GET /web/issues/:slug: one issue with its HTML, already stripped of personal data and tracking.

Set each issue's canonical URL to its page on your site. Publishing itself is PATCH /sequences/:sequenceId/web, and the archive settings are /settings/web; see the API reference. The same actions are available as MCP tools.
